Our House

The big news of the summer (o.k. one of the many in my family) is that Logan and I have a house. Right before we left for Disney we signed a lease and we move in at the end of the month. We can't wait! It's a cute little 3 bedroom with what we think will be plenty of room for us and all our (o.k. my) stuff. It's only 2 1/2 miles from where we live now and is on a deadend street with a park. Logan is excited about the basketball hoops and I'm excited about the swings. Best part is we have a laundry room with a washer and dryer. After 8 years in an apartment you can't even imagine how excited I am. Of course a house means a yard and mowing, but we're looking forward to that too. Remind me of that when it's a 100 some degrees and I'm having to mow! :) Our landlord is a children's book and music author so it should be a perfect fit. Here is a picture of the outside. Once we're moved in I'll post inside pictures. Now the fun of packing up and cleaning our 2 apartments begins. I've done one box so far. Go me! :)

Disney World

O.k. Sarah has totally put me to shame in my posting. I am SO SO behind. Sorry about that. So it's time to catch up. After months of waiting we finally got to go to Disney World. It was 9 days of fun. We saw everything more then once and had a great time with mom, dad, Sarah and Kurt. We did all four parks, a water park and breakfast with Mickey. We even celebrated my birthday with a cake after dinner in Mexico. It was lots of fun. Logan was like a little kid. He was so excited to see everything. His highlight was of course meeting Cinderella. He even got an autograph and a picture. My favorite was breakfast with Mickey and hanging out with my family. Least favorite part of both of us was the over 2 hr. delay coming home on the plane. Gotta love summer storms! Overall it was a great time and we can't thank Dad enough for taking us. So here's some pictures. Between the 3 families there are over a 1,000 so this is just a very small taste. :)

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend here was beautiful weather and actually a long weekend for both Logan and I. It was great to sleep in and just hang out. Saturday we had a confirmation party and a birthday party so that was fun and busy day. Sunday we spent the day at the new baseball stadium watching the Nationals play the Milwaukee Brewers. Lots of fun, but too much sun. We're just finally starting to not look like lobsters. :) Monday was a day of finishing up our wedding registering and shopping for the Disney trip. Logan was still off on Tuesday so he came in and helped my class make ice cream. Lots of fun! Now I'm finishing up the school year with only one week left. We're also looking for a place to live come August. A few leads but nothing definite yet. Wedding is only 78 days away and we're happy to report invites have been mailed and most everything else is ready too. It's becoming more real and exciting all of the time. And countdown to Disney is now at only 13 days. We can' wait! It's hard to believe how fast it's all gone. The countdowns seemed huge when I first started them and now it's here before we know it. Cincinnati Trip

O.k. I'm finally getting around to some more updates. Two weekends ago we headed off on our quick weekend visit to Cincy. As always a long drive, but fun. Unfortunately I spent most of the weekend sleeping because I didn't feel well, but that happens. But after 10 days of antibiotics I'm doing much better. :) While we were there we finished up our premarital counseling, I had a surprise lunch/bridal shower, and we were celebrities at church on Sunday as we had the chance to see our old friends and my old students. We also celebrated Charlie, Matt, & Chris's birthdays with a fun cake and the nonsick people spent Saturday night playing with the Wii (I think that's how you spell it) and having a bonfire. Only pictures I have right now are of the cake so I'll share that. Hopefully someone will send me shower pictures and I can share those later.

May Showers Bring June Flowers?

Somehow our nice warm weather of April has turned into cool and lots and lots of rain in May. We are getting quite sick of inside recess and will be happy to get back outside. And I'm missing Logan and my walks to the park. :) School is winding down as today marks 18 more. Kids are officially done on June 6th (in case you want to check my math) with teachers done the following Friday. Then we head off to Disney. The countdown continues and we can't wait! Only 31 days!!

Wedding plans continue and with only 96 days to go we're feeling pretty good about where we're at with it all. Though if anyone wants to lick lots of envelopes holler! :) Thanks to everyone's help we're pretty much done and are trying to concentrate on finding a place to live. That's a slow process, but I know it will be well worth it when we're out of our one bedroom apartments and not running back and forth all the time.

This weekend we're taking a break from it all and making one our whirlwind trips to Cincinnati to see the adopted families. As always it promises to be a jammed packed fun weekend that won't be long enough.

Well, sorry for no pictures, but I figured after a month I should update at least a little on what we've been up to. It's safe to guess there will be pictures after this weekend so maybe I'll be able to do a more exciting post next week!

Great Falls National Park

Saturday we had beautiful weather out here. Logan and I decided to explore a new place. We spent the afternoon at Great Falls National Park. It's up by where he used to live so about 45 mins. or so away. We unfortunately didn't have our camera with us, but I have to say it was gorgeous! It is part of the old C & O Canal. We took a ride on a boat through a lock and part way down the canal. Then you are able to walk the "toe path." The toe path is a flat sandy/dirt path that is 12 feet wide that runs along the canal. It was where the mules walked to pull the boats. The whole park is rocky hills filled with trees. The canal was built parallel to the Potomac river so at places you can walk over and see and climb on the rocks of the river. Parts of it are like little white rapids (hence the name great falls). It is an amazing park. You feel like you are millions away from the city. Can't wait to go back with a camera. It will be a must this fall when the colors have changed. We probably walked about 3 miles. Too bad we wore flip flops! Oh well, next time!
Our good weather was short lived as we have had tons of rain Sunday/Monday. We spent Sunday registering for wedding gifts. It was a fun, but mind numbing experience. I think the best part was using the little pricing gun! Now it's back to work for a few days before we head to Illinois Friday to finish up the last of the wedding stuff. Should be a good time.

Easter In Maryland

Well, now that I've been back to school almost a week I figured it was time to finally post the Easter pictures. Easter break this year was busy and a lot of fun. Mom and Dad came for Easter so Logan and I had the chance to prove we can cook with an awesome dinner of ribs, potatoes, and green beans. Dad just got a new camera so we had lots of fun "reseeing" the sites of D.C. and taking pictures all around. Besides that we went up the Washington Monument, to the Zoo, a couple museums, church a lot, out to eat, did wedding planning, and even bought my wedding dress. It was great to see them for more then the 2 or 3 days I usually get. After they left Pastor Eric and Nate came. That was an adventure, but still a good time. We even finished our premarital stuff. One more thing to check off the list! Speaking of that- only 65 days until Disney and 135 till the wedding. So here are some of the pictures from our "D.C. photo shoot" with Dad.
