Maryland Oyster Festival

The weekend after the wedding we headed to southern Maryland  for the oyster festival. Despite me not liking oysters it was a lot of fun. There were craft shows, a terribly inappropriate puppet show, lots of free samples, lots of different types of food, a farm museum, and the U.S. Oyster Shucking Contest. The contest was pretty cool. They had to see how fast and neat they could shuck oysters. Then they would bring them out to the crowd and pass them out. I think that was one of Logan's favorite parts! I'm proud to say I tried all the free samples and some were even not so bad. Though for lunch I chose a turkey sandwich. :) We had a lot of fun and our looking forward to going again next year.

An Iowa Wedding

A couple weeks ago we went back to Iowa for Logan's cousin Elisha and Jeff's wedding. It was, as with all Lenhart trips, very little sleep, but a lot of fun. We got to stay at a fancy hotel with an indoor waterpark thanks to cousin Alex. We also got to spend lots of time with Grandma Lenhart and all of the family. I even met relatives I hadn't met yet! We had a great time playing in the water park with the nieces and nephews and hanging out with the family. Since it was the first time we've all been together since Luke and Emily's wedding 5 years ago we spent some time before the wedding taking family pictures. Logan's 29th

So on October 4th Logan turned 29th which means he's almost joining me in the 30's. I LOVE to remind him of this fact. It was a very low key celebration because Logan was still getting over a cold and I was just getting it. He's such a generous husband. :)  Friday we had dinner at Outback Steakhouse, opened his gift, and then in bed by like 8:30. (told you low key) Then Saturday we slept in, did the usual Saturday errands/chores and then had birthday cake and candles while watching Michigan Football game. Logan says it was a good birthday weekend so that's all that matters.

 

National Book Festival 2013 and Special Visitors

Well, despite my promises of keeping up on this it is now almost the end of Oct. and I haven't posted since the end of August. Oops! So I'll try to do some catching up.

As readers of my blog know a favorite D.C. event of mine is The National Book Festival in Sept. This year I was especially awesome for 2 reasons: 1) Sarah and the girls were here to go with us 2) Logan and I got to meet one of our favorite authors- Brad Metzer.  He writes historical thrillers. Think National Treasure movies with more action. A lot of his books are based here in D.C.  We have Dad to thank for getting us started reading his books. Awhile back when his book  The Inner Circle came out Dad heard about it and told me it sounded like something Logan would enjoy. Let's just say he was super right and Logan and I have been reading his books since then.  Logan waited in line for a couple hours so we were some of the first people to meet him. He was very nice and we had fun getting to visit with him about his books and Michigan football before the people in charge told him he had to keep the line moving. We both got autographs on the covers of our NOOKS. It was a super cool experience.

I don't even have to say how awesome it was to have Sarah and the girls here. Since most people read both of our blogs I'll just do a quick overview. They came in Friday and we played in the yard before heading to the park. After that was dinner and T-ball with Uncle Logan before bed. Saturday was the book festival and a carousal ride at the park. Sunday was church, Sunday School, Abigail and I making pancakes, the zoo, and then pizza and a movie.  Monday was unfortunately them going home and us back to work. We had so much fun playing with the girls and I loved getting a chance to visit with Sarah in person instead of just on the phone. I think it took the rest of that week before we got used to it just being us again. Our house was quiet and empty without them.

So here are a few pictures. I'll stick mainly to Logan and I since Sarah posted so many of when the girls were here. :)
